JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Folks residing within the New City space have been involved about it being a meals desert for years.
The realm doesn’t have a grocery store close by.
A number of folks have talked about needing to board a bus, typically multiple, simply to have the ability to purchase wholesome meals like vegetables and fruit.
The Jacksonville Metropolis Council will focus on methods to handle the problem of meals deserts, particularly within the New City neighborhood, throughout a Zoom assembly, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Whereas some packages are in place to assist with meals deserts citywide, folks in New City have mentioned extra must be completed.
Whereas different grocery shops round Jacksonville have been getting some assist with renovations and the brand new Winn-Dixie in Gateway opened, in New City, nothing is de facto within the works to assist these folks.
Final February, JTA launched the “Door to Retailer” pilot program, which gave free rides to grocery shops for folks residing within the Northside ReadiRide zone.
